IMSA VIR Announcement

Manassas Park, VA (September 24, 2021)— Building on their race-winning success in other racing series, New German Performance will field an Audi RS 3 LMS in the TCR class at the upcoming IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge Virginia is for Racing Lovers 2-hour event at VIRginia International Raceway on October 10th. This event will mark New German Performance’s first entry into the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge, fielding the No. 44 Audi RS 3 LMS serviced and prepared at their Manassas Park, Virginia facility. The team is also excited to welcome LIQUI MOLY, Out There Brands, Unitronic, Patriot Auto Detail, Dentless Touch, OMPThe Concourse Group, and OG Racing as partners for their first IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge race weekend.

Team spokesman, Mike Humphrey- “We are tremendously excited to build on our recent successes as we enter the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge. After supporting the VW and Audi community for more than 20 years, including our customers’ efforts in motorsports, we are eager to take the knowledge we’ve amassed over that time and apply it to our own professional motorsports entry as an Audi Sport Customer Racing team.”

Tristan Herbert will join 2018 IMSA TCR champion Britt Casey Jr. to pilot their no. 44 Audi RS 3 LMS during the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge Virginia is for Race Lovers 2-hour race at VIRginia International Raceway on October 10th

Herbert made his IMSA debut earlier in the season in LMP3 with Jarett Andretti and Andretti Autosport but has previously competed in many different touring car and GT based series.

Herbert stated – “Jumping back behind the wheel has been a blast!  I had the opportunity to work with New German Performance last year with great success, taking a TCR victory at Indianapolis motor speedway.  I’m really looking forward to sharing the car in the IMSA endurance format with previous IMPC champion, Britt Casey.  I’ve worked with Britt from behind the pit wall for a few years now so the opportunity to be on the opposite side with Britt as a co-driver is going to be a fun perspective.”

Britt comments “VIR is one of my favorite tracks and the home track for the New German Performance team.” Adding, “Tristan and I have worked together for several years without ever sharing a race car and I am excited to change that at VIR. While I have been working at IMSA race events as a crew member in the WeatherTech Championship this season, it is especially rewarding to get back in an IMSA race car at a track I love. The Audi RS 3 LMS has always been a rewarding car to drive at its limits, and I am looking forward to working as hard as possible with Tristan to maximize the results for such a hard-working and genuine group of racers at NGP.”

Team spokesman, Mike Humphrey adds “We are excited to have Tristan and Britt as our drivers at VIR. Both have proven themselves successful behind the wheel of the Audi RS 3 LMS, they are an ideal driver pairing for us as we enter our first IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge race.”
